Most Successful Person
by Russell Snow

I am twenty, twenty trillion dollars in debt
But I have never, I have never-ending breath
I am done giving, giving up alone
With ten thousand contacts living, in my phone

But there's not much you can do
When the whole world disowns you
Not many faces will know you
Not much will matter
When your whole life has shattered
No place to go

I figured out a way to fly
The secret to eternal life
Cause I am the most successful person
In the world tonight
I figured out a way to fly
The secret to eternal life, hey
So I am the most successful person in the world
Right?

I climbed aboard, toward a moving train
Train tracks glowing from a rolling flame
It was too late I thought
It was too late to slow down or stop
To wave goodbye

Cause there's not much you can do
When the whole world disowns you
Not many faces will know you
Not much will matter
When your whole life has shattered...

I figured out a way to fly
The secret to eternal life
I was the most successful person in the world, tonight
I figured out a way to fly
The perfect place to get high
Secrets us winners all live by, so hey
I am the most successful person in the world
Right?

I figured out a way to fly
The perfect place to be just fine
I am the most successful person
In the world...tonight

And every night, and every night, and every night
Every night, every night
I am the most successful person
In the world...tonight

Coffee Shops in the Spring (On a theme of Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra)
by Russell Snow

Coffee shops in the spring
The sound of heart beats
Beating as they sing
Two strangers' eyes meet
Wonderin' what it would bring
Who will make a move

Coffee shops in the spring
Always remind me
How life is a tangled ball of string
The days designed to
Unravel all your dreams
And hand them out like balloons

The sun could be shining
But I wouldn't know it
The sky could be blue or green
But I wouldn't see it
Cause eyes aren't starin' back at me
In my coffee shop in the spring...

Coffee shops in the spring
Coffee shops in the spring
Never comfort me
Coffee shops in the spring
Need a winter breeze
So I could warm my hands around
A coffee cup and dream
that I..am...deep..in..
Deeply in..love......in a...

Coffee shop in the spring
The sound of heart beats
Beating as they sing
Two lovers' eyes meet
Knowin' what it will bring
Gotta make a move...

Oh coffee shops in the spring
Making romances
In coffee shops in the spring
I'll take my chances
Oh oh, oh oh oh oh oh
Da da da, da da...da...

Dum da dum da da dum...

Kite

Kite
by Russell Snow
(version 3 - Dec 29, 2010)

Dizzy steps, twirling feet
Busy lights, shuffled street
The sign says "Don't Walk"

Out of breath, our eyes meet
Drenching night, rain is sweet
And city small talk
I love her..small talk...

In all the years I've lived
I've never been prepared
Now my kite is flying but I'm losing wind
In all the years I've lived
I've never been this scared
Will I ever see her, again?

All I've known, all I've tried
I'm still not ready to say goodbye
"Control your breathing"

Twisting stone, miles wide
Autumn trees, falling tide
Her ship is leaving
I can't believe it

In all the years I've lived
I've never been prepared
Now my kite is flying but I'm losing wind
In all the years I've lived
I've never been this scared
Will I ever see her, again?

That charming face, that memory
So far and faint and soaring free
"Here you go Ma'am, stand close to me,
"I'll protect you, you won't get wet"

"Oh I'm glad it rained,
"Or we would have never met"

Now you're out of breath
Your eyes asleep
Soon you'll leave me
Little kite, please don't fly away
Please don't leave me...

No, no you can't...

In all the years I've lived
I've never been prepared
Now my kite is flying but I'm losing wind
In all the years I've lived
I've never been this scared
Will I ever see you again?

In all the years I've lived
I've never been this scared
Will I ever see you again?
See you again
See you again
Please let me see you again

The Life I Chose (On a theme of Ave Maria by Beyoncé)
by Russell Snow

I wandered home from a secret deep inside
In the pitch dark I still made my way
A familiar glow in an unfamiliar sign
Pointed me down towards the path to day

This is the life I chose
Although I'm stuck I still know
Nobody else will ever feel this way

I'm in love with the thought of loving you
But how could a one-sided dream become real?
Then a familiar sound in an unfamiliar voice
Told me that faith is the only deal

This is the life I chose
Although I'm stuck I still know
Nobody else will ever know I pray
Will the heartache ever go away?

Am I the only one who sees the truth?
There are more important things to do
Can the music help me make it through?
Make it through an eternity without you...

This is the life I chose
Although I'm stuck I still know
Nobody else will ever feel this way

This is the life I chose
Although I'm stuck I still know
Nobody else will ever feel this way

Slowing
by Russell Snow
(written lyrics to song by BerkleeMusic Online writing course)

Caught in a raincloud
Waves of the sea
Lost in a hideout
Comfort of sleep
Rivers are wider and deeper at night
Slowing the flow of a dream

Color the sky blue
Wonder and wait
Will she forgive you
Losing your way
Lost in the air and the smile that she breathes
Slowing the flow of a dream

Savor the span of a moment
Savor the span of a day
Worry can fade
If a sorry will stay

Deer in a headlight
Now I'm awake
Comfort at my side
She's keeping me safe

Whispered I'm sorry but letting her sleep
I'm hoping our love will be all right
Slowing...the flow...of..a...dream

Yeah It's Over (So Here I Go Again)
by Russell Snow

[Moderate/Rant]

I'm tired of the way you act
as if the world is slowing down
but you're still flying through the air
at faster than the speed of sound
if you can't hear the things I say
then maybe you should sit with me
so we can talk about all this
and why it is that I'll be leaving you

yeah it's over
and you should know
if you were sober
well, I'd still go
yeah it's over
and it goes to show
I'm not a push-over
ugh, men!
so here I go, again

I'm giving us another chance
I hope we end up better than before
well nothing beats the make up sex
and I don't think I feel bad anymore

what's keeping us together babe?
each day is like a rubber band
we stretch out far and then we finally snap
one more snap and then I'm really really leaving you

yeah it's over
and you should know
if you were sober
well, I'd still go
yeah it's over
and it goes to show
I'm not a push-over
ugh, men!
so here I go, again

yeah it's over
and you should know
if you were sober
well, I'd still go
yeah it's over
and it goes to show
I'm no push over

yeah it's over
and you should know
if you were sober
well, I'd still go
yeah it's over
and it goes to show
I'm not a push-over
ugh, men!
so here I go, again
yeah it's over

yeah it's over
yeah it's over
yeah it's over

Parallel Story of Me

by Russell Snow

she's rain
she's gone
she's soothing
she's too calm
her senses seem
all wrong
what danger did she
overlook?

he's cold
he's scared
he's running from
somewhere
inside a science
fiction book

guess I lost my way
in all this mess
those pages I could never read
Why did that character choose loneliness
in a parallel story of me

her eyes
her soul
she's stuck in some black hole
no steering
no control
thinks of him
now and then

he's wise
sometimes
then why doesn't he return
return to her and...

guess I lost my way
in all this mess
cause those pages I could never read
Why did that character choose loneliness
in a parallel story of me

guess I lost my way
in all this mess
those pages I could never read
Why did that character choose loneliness
in a parallel story of me

in a parallel story of me
in a parallel story of me

Welcome Back (to the Hotel California)
by Russell Snow

Caught behind a road block
in the far left lane
Am I the victim, now
or am I insane?

Waiting patiently, yeah
seems the right thing to do
But every time I smell freedom
the signs lead back to you

I remember clearly
Fast, comes the night
In the rear view mirror
oh it's closing in tight

As I creep over the hill
Well what do I see?
Thank god, there it lays, still
And the doorman greets me...

"Welcome back to the Hotel California
What a nice surprise
What a nice surprise
after all this time"

"We missed you here at the Hotel California
But we've been stayin' strong
We've been stayin' strong
Hey, ya stayin long?"

Well she's been wrapped up in worry
She even called the front desk
but they told her, "Maam please stop callin' here,
this aint no theater burlesque.
We only dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget"

Then I called for the butler
Please bring me a tie
He said, "sir they don't require suits no more, and don't ask me why"
And still those voices are sounding strange, again
Well some things are lost forever
But some things will never change...

"Welcome back to the Hotel California
Any time of year
Any time of year
you'll be welcome here"

"Ready or not at the Hotel California
You can try to hide
You can try to hide
but you'll lose your mind..."

Paintings in the portraits
and some...big eyes stare back
They say, "What are you still doin' here
And how come you don't unpack?"

Well, I came here for answers
Should I buy or lease?
Cause I can stab it with the steely knife
But I still can't kill the beast!

Why can't I remember
And why am I running from myself?
Is it that I never really left
Oh the voices they'll never tell

Relax, said the night man
There's much more to see
You can check out, again, if you like
Oh but you still won't leave...

Life is What You Make of It

by Russell Snow

You are racing through life on a never-ending balance beam
With your arms flailing out to me, reaching for my help
Even though nothing inside you is ever incomplete
You are overwhelmed

You could do something great
If you just stop and concentrate
Oh, you will make it to the other side…

Don't fall,
Hold on to what you love
Balance,
Let go of all you've grudged
I know,
How hard your life can get
Although,
If you take it rather slow…
Life is what you make of it

You are searching your soul on a mountain missing half a bridge
With your dreams crying out to me for another chance
Even though all you will ever need is a stronger grip
You're an avalanche

You will be someone great
When you just stop and concentrate
You will make it to this other side…

Don't fall,
Hold on to whom you love
I'll call,
When I'm ready for you above
I know,
How hard your life can get
Although,
If you take it rather slow…
Life is what you make of it

[Bridge: Melodic Instrumental]

You'll make it to the other side…

Don't fall,
Hold on to what you love
Balance,
Let go of all you've grudged
I know,
How hard your life can get
Although,
If you take it rather slow…
Life is what you make of it

Out there on the balance beam
Life is what you make of it
No matter how hard it will ever get
Life is what you make of it

Life is what you…

I Don't Know Those Words

by Russell Snow

What language are they speaking?
I don't know those words
I see their mouths are moving
And their feelings are hurt

They're telling me it's over
I don't know those words
My memory still holds her
But this heartache burns!

Like a passing cloud, over an uncrossed river
As it all turns out, on this unknown path
Is a new word to learn...

WHYYYYYYY.......
(In the only world I see)
WHYYYYYYY.......
(Is the only word I breath)
.......did I lose Leslie?

What story am I reading?
I don't know these words
The only thing I'm needing
Is to see her picture

The "summer breeze" may "whisper"
I don't know those words
Cause all I hear is thunder
As the pain returns!

Like a passing cloud, over an uncrossed river
As it all turns out, on this unknown path
Is a new world to learn...

WHYYYYYYY.......
(In the only world I see)
WHYYYYYYY.......
(Is the only word I breath)
.......did I lose Leslie?
Why did I lose Leslie?

So I've heard, it's so absurd
How, could this occur?
It was meant, and so she went
Well, I don't know those words
I don't know those words!!!!

Like a passing cloud, over an uncrossed river
As it all turns out, on this unknown path
Is a new word to learn...

WHYYYYYYY.......
(In the only world I see)
WHYYYYYYY.......
(Is the only word I breath)
.......did I lose Leslie?
Why did I lose Leslie?
Why did I lose Leslie?

Climbing Trees

by Russell Snow

Last night, again, I died
The past not far from mind
Just once, for me
I tried to find
A stronger branch to climb

Last night, again, I cried
But not for you at all
Just once, for me
I tried to find
My own way out this time...

Swaying with the leaves
Letting go of life
Music from the breeze
Playing in the night
I'm always misunderstood

Last night, again, I lied
When I said I don't need you
But no that's not true
Sometimes I lose my mind
And get a little
out of line

Swaying with the leaves
Letting go of life
Music from the breeze
Playing in the night
I'm always misunderstood

Swaying with the leaves
Letting go of life
Music from the breeze
Playing in the night

I'm falling to my knees
I'm falling to my knees
I'm always misunderstood

I miss my childhood
Climbing trees

Days Like This

by Russell Snow

Think of the days
oh, we had it made
Summers were endless
and cool in the shade
Under the stars
life wasn't hard
We'd look up and dream
some day we'd go far

But as we get older
the stars turn to cars
We settle for small things
and even who we are

But I'm still dreaming, I'm still dreaming big
I want inches to heaven and miles to dig
My youth isn't over until I say it is
And the days worth livin' are the days like this

Think of the times
ah, wasted away
But in our young minds
there was no other way
Covered in sand
Little toes as we ran
Beaches were castles
and rivers to plan

But as we get older
the sand turns to land
We fight over small things
and don't lend a hand
Is this how life began?

Cause I'm still dreaming, I'm still dreaming big
I want inches to heaven and miles to dig
My youth isn't over until I say it is
And the days worth livin' are the days like this

They say settle down, find a wife
Get married, get a life....
Well that sounds like a perfect, grown up idea, hey, hey
yeah......
But I think the kids have it right
No, they don't only dream at night

Oh I'm still dreaming, I'm still dreaming big
I want inches to heaven and miles to dig
My youth isn't over until I say it is
And the days worth livin' are the days like this

And the days worth livin'...
are the days...
days...like...this!

Whiskey Run

by Russell Snow

One lazy afternoon
I could hardly move
Head down in the kitchen sink
Needed time to soothe

One crazy memory
of the night before
Head down to the liquor store
There's no time to lose!

I went on a whiskey run that night
Took a shot of risk, a shot of pride
Looked the sky straight in the eye
And went on a whiskey run that night

Next thing I know
I'm stumblin' in the park
Makin' sweet love, oh
THANK GOD it was DARK!

Next thing I know
I'm passed out on the floor
She's faded, she's faded out the door
Um, well, I...
I don't need her anymore

I went on a whiskey run that night
Took a shot of risk, a shot of pride
Looked the sky straight in the eye
And went on a whiskey run that night

Some kind of fairy tale to believe
One day they will talk of me...
The legend of a man running free!

I went on a whiskey run that night
A shot of risk, a shot of pride
Never looked the sky straight in the eye
Till I went on a whiskey run that night

The Hurricane

by Russell Snow

They're sayin' ya gotta get away from here
But ya know you'll never give in to that fear
And tears are rollin' in
You're holdin' back the wind
You gotta make it through the hurricane

Your feelings might be ripping apart right now
But no one will hear ya if ya scream out loud
And tears are rollin' in
You're holdin' back the wind
You gotta make it through the hurricane

And when the hurricane's gone
and all that's left is a little bit of rain
Ya pick up the pieces
and do what ya can that eases the pain

He says he's sorry if ya think that he let you down
He never meant to hurt you any more than a frown
But baby don't give in
Please hold on 'till the end

And when the hurricane's gone
and all that's left is a little bit of rain
Ya pick up the pieces
and do what ya can that eases the pain

Ya pick up the pieces
and do whatever ya can that ceases the pain

You gotta make it through the hurricane
You gotta make it through the hurricane
Ya gonna make it through the hurricane

A Shot in the Dark

by Russell Snow

Feet struggle the floor
Hands reach out for relief
Where is the light?
No clothes and no beliefs
Just a warm towel to blanket the night
night...

It's taking its toll living like this...
I used to say I'd see the world!
Now all I see is t.v. dinners
It's like I'm part of the show
I'm one of the sinners
And I betray the girl

Third floor city loft
Christmas lights still around the bar
Down goes a shot
AC is blowin' hard
It's such a waste and-
Damn I miss her a lot!
shot
shot...

It's taking its toll living like this
I used to see I'd saaay the world!
Now all I see is t.v. dinners
And I'm part of the show
Yeah I'm one of the sinners
And I betray the girl!

Hair covers her face
Lips tremble for a touch
So far so good, I suppose
Wrong name and bad excuse
her smile is gone
And now I think she knows...

God I know...

It's taking its toll living like this
I used to say I'd see the world!
Now all I see is t.v. dinners
And I'm part of the show
Yeah I'm one of the sinners
And I betray the girl!

It's taking its toll living like this
I used to say I'd see the world

Then I betrayed the girl

It's taking its toll living like this
I used to say I'd see the world!
Now all I see is t.v. dinners
And I'm part of the show
Yeah I'm one of the sinners
And I betray...
Yeah I betrayed...
And I betray...

Feet struggle the floor
Hands reach out for relief

Kings and Queens (We're Gonna Make It)

by Russell Snow

You are the inquisitive crusader
You are the queen who can’t deal with her self doubt
I am the sarcastic believer
I am the king who always feels that he's left out

And on the coldest night of our longest winter
When our love is freezing but our dreams are wide awake
I see from your eyes there's a sea with waves of crashing panic
From across the rolling hills of our silken pillows
That we are drowning from a flood of make-believe...

But we’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
We’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
So just hold on to me, just hold on to me tight
I have a feeling, we’re gonna be just fine
We’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
Our bridge of healing, will be built in no time
We’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
I have a feeling, we’re gonna be all right

Don’t give up just yet, there’s no need for regret
Hold on just a little bit, and we’re gonna make it

You are the maleficent invader
You are the queen who will fight for what she wants
I am the majestic betrayer
I am the king who always fails to send response

And on the saddest day of our ending friendship
When our battle loses but our hearts are still at home
I see from your face there's a place like a forgiving smile
From behind the highest walls of our sinking spirit
That we are drowning from a flood of disbelief...

But we’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
We’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
So just hold on to me, just hold on to me tight
I have a feeling, we’re gonna be just fine
We’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
Our bridge of healing, will be built in no time
We’re gonna make it, we’re gonna make it, yeah
I have a feeling, we’re gonna be all right

We’re gonna make it...

When the Morning Sun Stays Red

by Russell Snow

Take a chance,
Be what you wish you were,
You might find out,
There's more about you
That you've yet to learn
But you'll never know unless you try

Get up and live your life
Get up but don't forget
When the morning sun stays red

Just don't forget
When the morning sun stays red
The rain will come
The rain will go
But you'll always have the choice if you'll get wet

So don't forget
When the morning sun stays red
Your life is what you make it
And the day has just begun
When the morning sun stays red
When the morning sun stays red

Even though the world might be unfair
You can't deny the kind of joy
that we all share out there
You can't deny the kind of love -
we have worth living

Get up and raise your chin
Get out if you haven't yet
When the morning sun stays red

Just don't forget
When the morning sun stays red
The rain will come
The rain will go
But you'll always have the choice if you'll get wet

So don't forget
When the morning sun stays red
Your life is what you make it
And the day has just begun
When the morning sun stays red
When the morning sun stays red

I'd Be Indigo

by Russell Snow

The sky is the shade of wonders
And I am the eyes of thunder
But rain paints the perfect picture
When the sun breaks through the clouds
And dries away my doubts

And if I were a color in the sky
I'd be two mixed together like you and I
But I wouldn't be pink, orange, or green
I'd be one you rarely see....

Indigo, I'd be indigo
And you'd find me, oh baby
Stretched across a rainbow
Indigo, I'd be indigo
Always violet and blue
Whenever I'm not with you
Indigo, oh oh indigo
I'd grab the sun and not let go

The grass is the shade of showers
And I am the lonely flower
But days without you will be over
When the clouds clear out to sea
And you are coming back to me

And if I were a color of the grass
I'd be two mixed together, so high class
But I wouldn't be gold or Irish green
I'd be one you haven't seen....

Indigo, I'd be indigo
And you'd find me, oh baby
Stretched across a meadow
Indigo, blue wild indigos
Are violet and blue
Oh when I'm not with you
Indigo, oh oh indigo
I'd grab the sun and not let go

But we're almost through
We're near the end
Just one more day
Until I'll see you again

And if not tomorrow...

Indigo, I'd be indigo
And you'd find me, oh baby
Stretched across a rainbow
Indigo, I'd be indigo
Always violet and blue
Whenever I'm not with you
Indigo, oh oh indigo
I'd grab the sun and not let go

Indigo, oh oh indigo
I'd grab the sun and not let go
Indigo, oh oh oh oh oh
I'd grab the sun and not let go
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
I'm indigo

Love of Life

by Russell Snow

Seek a little love of life
And keep your younger years in sight
Without the wasted worries like:
"Should that dollar be mine?"...

Cause time is owned by no one
When your alarm sounds, you're done
So just concede to dying...from:
"A little freaking fun!"...

Show and tell your L.O.L.
Sure life is hard, oh well, oh well!
Just live it up, enjoy the smell
and show and tell your L.O.L.

The sun is setting so damn fast
A simple life will never last
But do I really have to ask
"You gonna have a blast!?"...

Show and tell your L.O.L.
Sure life is hard, oh well, oh well!
Just live it up, enjoy the smell
and show and tell your L.O.L.

Win what you'll win...
And win it within...
Don't lose what you find...
But make up your mind...
Oh don't fall far behind...
Then let's see a grin, a grin again!

Show and tell your L.O.L.
Sure life is hard, oh well, oh well!
Just live it up, enjoy the smell
and show and tell your L.O.L.

Show and tell your L.O.L.
Sure life is hard, oh well, oh well!
Just live it up, enjoy the smell
and show and tell your L.O.L.

My love of life
I'll be with you tonight
No need to reply, oh
my love, my love of life

Right Before a Kiss

by Russell Snow

Sometimes the moment dies when we get near
The cold wind can freeze us and bring out our fears
But right before kissing you, I see your tears
You love me...

Come close to my heat and melt in my arms
Come stay forever just like this
Let's stay all night
Right before a kiss

Snow in the winter sometimes will wait
Until we are ready to fall at our own pace
You're covered in clothes now, but I see your face
You love me...

Come close to my heat and melt in my arms
Come stay forever just like this
Let's stay all night
Right before a kiss

I know you're not tired but I know you won't tell...
I know the moon's fire and I know it sooooo well...
And when all the birds leave to come back to their home
And when it's no longer winter, I'll know that we've grown...

You love me...

Come close to my heat and melt in my arms
Come stay forever just like this
Let's stay all night
Right before a kiss

You love me...(Right before a kiss)
You love me...(Right before a kiss)
Let's stay all night
Right before a kiss
